Louisiana Illuminator, ‘The Light Switch’ podcast: Inside ICE’s Louisiana detention centers

Last month, a group of civil rights advocates toured three U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention centers in Louisiana, part of a network of nine facilities that have processed tens of thousands of people this year under President Trump’s aggressive immigration crackdown.

Among those on the tour were Kerry Kennedy, president of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, and Anthony Enriquez, our vice president of U.S. advocacy and litigation. Both described troubling conditions inside the facilities and shared their concerns about a system built for mass detention rather than justice.

Listen to their full account here.

New year, new us. Same mission.

Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights is rebranding to honor the legacy of our founder and hero, Mrs. Ethel Skakel Kennedy. From now on, we will proudly be known as the Robert & Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center

While our name is changing, our mission and work remain the same. We will continue to fight injustice, advance human rights, and hold governments accountable around the world in 2026 and beyond.
