Richard C. Iannuzzi

Dick Iannuzzi served two full terms as a member of the RFK Human Rights Board of Directors and now serves as an RFK HR Trustee. He holds a B.S. in political science from Brooklyn College and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa upon graduation. Iannuzzi also holds an M.S. in political and social foundations of education from Hofstra University (with distinction) and a certificate in labor studies from the Cornell School of Labor Relations.

Iannuzzi taught for 34 years in the Central Islip Public Schools on Long Island, New York. He was elected president of New York State United Teachers, representing over 600,000 educators, support personnel, and health care workers in NYS, in 2005 and served in that role until 2014.

Iannuzzi worked directly with Kerry Kennedy to organize a group of NYSUT educators to create a curriculum celebrating the life of RFK to coincide with the naming of the RFK Bridge in New York City in 2008. They again collaborated with key educators from NYSUT to revise the Speak Truth to Power curriculum in 2010. Iannuzzi has worked with various elements of the STTP program, including the launching of the video contest and several summits. He continues to mentor and support the work of several STTP lead educators.
