Chris Buckley

Connecticut

Chris Buckley has been involved with RFK Human Rights as a STTP lead educator for the past several years. He participated in one of the early Teacher Training Workshops held in D.C. and now liaises with teachers in Connecticut and New York. The STTP curriculum has been a great addition to his classroom, and he has both developed specific projects around defenders as well as worked STTP materials into district curriculum.

Through his work with RFK Human Rights, he became connected to the people at the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center at the University of Connecticut and has led teacher trainings for pre-service and veteran teachers as well. Over the past two years, he has presented about STTP and human rights education at the annual conference for the National Council for the Social Studies (Boston and New Orleans) and is scheduled to present again this year in Washington, D.C. He is in his 15th year of teaching, and the connection to the STTP curriculum has helped to make his classroom more engaging and applicable to students.
