If you had to be any type of bird, what type of bird would you be?

A penguin.

What motivates you to be a changemaker in your community?

When I was a senior in high school, I saw how the predominant race at a school seemed to be the deciding factor of that school having enough funds to provide their students with foundational necessities, such as a box of crayons in an elementary school. After being exposed to the issue of systemic racism in public schooling, I dived head first into the subject and began to understand how racial inequalities are the source that society’s issues stem from, and ultimately connecting them all. As I started to ponder what our world would look like if every kid had the resources to build a foundation to succeed upon, I committed myself to delivering opportunities that inspire others in thinking that they can dream big and achieve even more; committed to securing crayons for every student, parent, and community.

My Capstone:

This capstone project is a financial literacy program that targets high school youth, and provides them with the skills to climb the ladder of upward income mobility in their futures. As there are many youths who don’t know how to budget or build credit, the types of accounts or loans, etc, these workshops and guest speakers would directly help in bridging this gap.
