What motivates you to be a changemaker in your community?

What motivates me to be a changemaker in my community is witnessing the power of collective action and the positive changes that result from community organizing. I am inspired by the legacies of resilience and progress established by my indigenous Liberian community, and it fuels my drive to contribute and continue their work for the betterment of everyone, especially those most marginalized in our communities.

My Capstone:

My capstone proposal, Pulse of the Streets: Unmasking the Realities of Black Youth in Minnesota, embarks on a transformative journey. This documentary and mixed-methods research project delves into the narratives of individuals deeply impacted by the 2020 Minneapolis Uprising and George Floyd’s tragic murder, with a specific focus on Minnesota’s Black youth. My capstone project aims to empower these young individuals through academic and artistic growth, fostering valuable skills in research and filmmaking.
