Kurt Small

President, Federal Government Solutions, Anthem Inc.

Kurt C. Small is president of Federal Government Solutions at Anthem, Inc. In this role, he leads an $11 billion federal business group focused on improving the effectiveness of federal health care in America. His organization supports a variety of government contracts, including the market-share leading Federal Employee Program business unit. Anthem’s FEP business serves nearly 1.6 million federal civilian employees, retirees and their dependents in 14 states. The National Government Services business also provides administration of the Medicare program for nearly 26 million beneficiaries as well as health information technology services used for 1-800-MEDICARE operations.

Small is dedicated to helping others and giving people the support needed to excel. He is a trustee of the Winchester Thurston School, a learning institution nationally recognized for work with gifted and talented students, distinctive campuses, and innovative programs. WT is a school in which students achieve at the highest levels – earning stellar AP scores and gaining admission to the most selective colleges in the nation. Small is also an inductee and member of the Executive Leadership Council, which is dedicated to inclusive leadership, advancing the role and contributions of black executives and preparing the next generation of corporate leaders.
