If you had to be any type of bird, what type of bird would you be?

I would be a lovebird. While I may be small (I’m only 5 feet tall), I am also bold, collaborative, vocal about issues I care about, and very affectionate!

What motivates you to be a changemaker in your community?

I have personally witnessed the ways in which our current systems and institutions harm those with marginalized identities. It is a combination of these lived experiences, my love for humanity, and a liberationist outlook that drives me toward transformative activist work.

My Capstone:

My capstone, entitled Project D.O.S.E (Drug Overdose Safety and Education), will encompass a campaign for increased awareness and resources for handling drug overdoses at Temple University’s Main campus. While this project will largely be education-focused, our main policy goal for the end of the academic year is to have Temple’s Wellness Resource Center (our student hub for health resources) start offering naloxone kits as part of their services and making them available for the outside community. This project will consist of spreading educational materials to the student body and general public, working with student organizations and Temple’s College of Public Health to provide narcan/overdose reversal training to those who are interested, volunteering with community organizations that do harm reduction/first-response work as a means of learning and making tangible change, and lobbying Temple administration to make overdose reversal medications accessible to students and the community as a whole.
