Angelita Baeyens

VP of International Advocacy and Litigation

As Vice President of International Advocacy and Litigation, Angelita Baeyens serves as lead attorney in many cases before the Inter-American system of human rights, including cases on freedom of expression, enforced disappearance of human rights defenders and violence against women in the Americas. Before joining Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights in 2014, she previously served as the United Nations’ Political Affairs Officer in the Americas Division and worked as a Human Rights Officer in the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and served as the Coordinator of the Office of the Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders of the IACHR.

Angelita is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law. A dual Belgian and Colombian citizen, she holds a Law Degree from the University of Ibague and an LL.M in International Human Rights Law from the University of Notre Dame. Ms. Baeyens is fluent in Spanish, French and English.
