Statement on the Syrian Government’s Use of Chemical Weapons

The world has watched in horror as Syrian civilians suffered the horrific effects of yet another chemical weapons attack. Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights joins organizations and countries around the world in condemning the use of chemical weapons in this ongoing war. The fact that we are again discussing the use of chemical weapons highlights the importance for global action to end this brutal conflict in compliance with international law.

One of the key underlying root causes of the Syrian war is the Syrian government’s brutal, repressive response to acts of peaceful protest and dissent. Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights works around the world to support peaceful activism and defend the right to civic space. Violence, persecution and smear campaigns against human rights and humanitarian groups, including the White Helmets, further highlights how important it is to support the crucial work of civil society around the world.

New year, new us. Same mission.

Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights is rebranding to honor the legacy of our founder and hero, Mrs. Ethel Skakel Kennedy. From now on, we will proudly be known as the Robert & Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center

While our name is changing, our mission and work remain the same. We will continue to fight injustice, advance human rights, and hold governments accountable around the world in 2026 and beyond.
