Statement on the Murder of Guillermo Cano
Statement from the Cano Busquets family and the organizations working on the case on the murder of Guillermo Cano / Comunicado de la familia Cano Busquets y organizaciones por el caso del asesinato de Guillermo Cano
Guillermo Cano was a journalist and director of the Colombian newspaper El Espectador who was killed in 1986 for reporting on the mafia. Although it has been 32 years since his death, justice has not been done. This past Tuesday, during the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights sessions in Boulder, Colorado, the Cano family, the Foundation for the Liberty of the Press (FLIP), and the Inter-American Press Association (SIP for its acronym in Spanish), along with Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights participated in a working meeting to persist in the three decade struggle to uncover the truth of what happened in Cano's death.
