Strengthen synergies across teams

No team operates in a vacuum. Rather, its work relies on synergies, partnerships, and relationships with adjacent colleagues. And the feedback from and advocacy of those partners, especially those who are key stakeholders in your team’s work, can have an impact on the engagement and growth of people on your team. All of this is connected to dignity-honoring elements like acceptance, recognition, acknowledgement, and inclusion. In addition, by building relationships across teams, a leader can connect a team with a broader segment of the workforce, advancing visibility and experiencing the growth that comes from exposure to others.

As the face of the team, a leader has the opportunity to give team members visibility (both as a unit and on an individual basis) within the organization. At the same time, a leader can show trust in the team by giving its members the latitude to create their own visibility and exposure and connecting them with others in the organization.
