Ours is a time when many things are just too big to be grasped. It is a century which has heaped up enough explosive power to blow up the world. It is a century which has probed into the floor of the sea, which has flung men far into outer space, which now threatens to invade the moon. When things are done on too vast a scale, the human imagination bogs down. It can no longer visualize such fantastic things and thus loses its grip on their essential reality. Killing one man is a murder, killing millions is a statistic.
