Peter Barbey

President, Barbey Capital Management

Peter Barbey followed in his family’s long tradition in the publishing world that dates back to 1796. He served as the president and chief executive officer of the Reading Eagle Company, which owned the Reading Eagle and South Schuylkill News newspapers, WEEU AM radio, Pretzel City Productions and REP printing. Barbey was also the publisher of New York City’s Village Voice.

Barbey has long served on various civic and charitable committees and boards throughout his career, currently including Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights and Trinity Church Wall Street. Along with his wife Pamela and son Matthew, he directs the Edwin Barbey Charitable Trust, which funds arts, human rights, medical and other charitable endeavors.

While our name is changing, our mission and work remain the same. We will continue to fight injustice, advance human rights, and hold governments accountable around the world in 2026 and beyond.
