
Stefano Lucchini is Chairman of the Associazione Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Foundation of Italy since 2020.
After graduating in Economics from LUISS University in Rome, he joined the Montedison Economic Studies department in 1987 where he was later appointed Head of Corporate Communication and Investor Relations at Montedison USA. In 1988, he was awarded a fellowship by Brookings Institution as part of a congressional fellowship program granting him to work for a year in the Energy and Commerce Committee at the US House of Representative as a congressional assistant to Mr. John D Dingell (D-Michigan). In 1997, he joined Enel SpA and was appointed Director of External Relations of the group. He served as Director of External Relations in Confindustria. In 2002, he was appointed Director of External Relations of the Banca Intesa group. In 2005, he served as Senior Executive Vice President for International Public Affairs and Communication of Eni group and Chairman of Eni USA.
He is currently Chief Institutional Affairs and External Communication Officer of the Intesa Sanpaolo group and Chairman of Banca IMI Securities Corporation in the U.S. since 2014.
He is Chairman of FEduF – Fondazione per l’Educazione Finanziaria e al Risparmio – (Organisation that promotes Economic and Financial Education and raises awareness about the culture of saving and investing).
He is President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF). He is a member of the International Advisory Council and a member of the Foreign Policy Leadership Council of the Brookings Institution in Washington D.C.
He serves on the Board of Directors of LUISS University and is a Board member of the FAI – Fondo Ambiente Italiano (The National Trust for Italy). He is a Board member and a member of the Executive Committee of ABI (Italian Banking Association).
He is the Chairman of the Scala Chamber Orchestra Association and a member of the Steering Committee of the Fondazione Teatro Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. He is a member of the General Council of the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice.
He is a Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford and a William Pitt Fellow at Pembroke College, University of Cambridge.
In January 2022, he was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) from the Link Campus University with Laudatio by Professor Franco Frattini.
He is Knight Grand Cross of the Italian Republic, Knight Commander of the Order of St. Gregory the Great and Knight of Magistral Grace in Obedience of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
