What motivates you to be a changemaker in your community?

When exposed to the inequalities happening around the United States, it makes a person ask questions if we are truly moving forward as a society. This has made me aware of the privilege
I’ve gotten by having access to resources, therefore it’s a responsibility to serve and commit to the future generations within my community. With time and commitment, if I can leave an impact
on at least a few people, it would mean the world to me.

My Capstone

Capstone Focus Area: Education / Mentorship

My capstone project is a financial literacy program that targets high school students and provides them with the necessary skills to enjoy the upward mobility that more privileged students tend to have, trying to level the playing field within my local community of Urbana. This program would be flexible towards students, ensuring that their time is respected and that they gain the most financial knowledge to help their family and friends, in turn, building generational wealth over time. We will meet with professionals from various institutions to build relationships between students and institutions to not only gain a deeper understanding of financial literacy but also support these students with connections that they can utilize in the future.
