Natalia Taubina

Natalia Taubina holds law enforcement agents accountable for human rights violations and protects victims of police abuse in Russia. As Director of the Public Verdict Foundation, Ms. Taubina and her team of attorneys litigate on behalf of citizens wrongfully arrested, beaten, tortured, and illegally detained by police. Ms. Taubina is also a powerful advocate for police reform. In 2014, the Russian government categorized Public Verdict as a “foreign agent” under a new Russian law intended to publicly invalidate, shame, and render inoperable organizations with foreign ties. Ms. Taubina has resolutely fought this label in court and is committed to protecting human rights despite the government’s attempt to shut down civil society defenders.

Natalia received a degree from the Faculty of Cybernetics at the Moscow Physics-Engineering Institute in 1993.
