Michael Lewis

The 2011 Robert F. Kennedy Book Award was presented to Michael Lewis for The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine, which describes the escalating U.S. housing bubble in the 2000s and subsequent financial crisis of 2007-8.

Michael Lewis is an author and financial journalist. Lewis has been a contributing editor to Vanity Fair since 2009 and has won multiple Gerald Loeb Awards and Los Angeles Times Book Prizes for his writing.

Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights is rebranding to honor the legacy of our founder and hero, Mrs. Ethel Skakel Kennedy. From now on, we will proudly be known as the Robert & Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center

While our name is changing, our mission and work remain the same. We will continue to fight injustice, advance human rights, and hold governments accountable around the world in 2026 and beyond.
