What motivates you to be a changemaker in your community?
What motivates me to be a changemaker is the belief that democracy should be lived, not just studied. Whether it’s advocating for voting rights, amplifying marginalized voices, or working alongside others to reimagine systems that no longer serve us, I’m inspired by community-driven policy to create tangible change.
Capstone: Kapwa Civic Project: Building Community Power Beyond the Ballot Box
The Kapwa Civic Project: Building Community Power Beyond the Ballot Box, seeks to empower immigrant and multilingual communities in Queens and the broader New York City community to engage in elections and hold our elected officials accountable year-round. My goal is for residents to gain a deeper understanding of the tools we have to push for policy change. I plan to do this by creating local issue-based zines and resource guides, as well as community forums that connect local issues to policy.
