Your go-to fun fact
I have a “birthmark” on the inside of my right eye, called a coloboma.
Your “feel good” album
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE by Ernest
If you had to be any type of bird, what type of bird would you be?
I would say that if I had to pick a bird to be it would be a penguin. Although underestimated by the factthat they can not fly, they are deeply connected to their communities and uses the tools of each member of their colony to help each other to keep warm and survive. I think that having such a good community as a bird would be amazing, plus I love the cold!
What motivates you to be a changemaker in your community?
As a proud citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and as an Urban Native American, I am motivated to be a change maker so that I can open the doors for others in my communities. I want to help lead others to build upon my work and create culturally relevant programs that can help connect people across the country to the resources they need to heal, connect, and empower communities.
Capstone: Off-Reservation Mvskoke Connections
In a recent survey, 99% of off-reservation Muscogee citizens stated that they would like to have a deeper connection with the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, with the majority of them stating that they would like to have more resources from the Nation to help this connection. This project will attempt to address these needs by creating a digital archive and resource kit that centralizes resources for citizens that live outside of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation for them to feel more connected to the nation and give them an opportunity to better understand relevant history, culture, and Tribal resources available to them. Through creating a digital archive this project hopes to start the conversation on how digital resources can be used to connect the nearly 75% of non-reservation based Native peoples from over 574 Tribes across the Nation and create more awareness on the Urban Native American experience.
