Kristina Varganova (she/her) is the Social Media Manager at Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights. As a member of the communications team, she manages organizational presence on all social media platforms, addressing challenges posed by misinformation and disinformation in today’s social media landscape. Kristina develops and curates content that emphasizes factual accuracy, leveraging platforms to disseminate verified narratives. Kristina collaborates with experts in the field to create educational campaigns addressing ongoing human rights issues and emblematic legal cases for civic space, fostering an environment where human rights are respected, and individuals are equipped with the skills needed to evaluate information critically. Additionally, Kristina manages Kerry Kennedy’s social media presence, elevating Kerry’s engagement with international stakeholders and publicizing her efforts in creating a more just and equitable world.
Previously, Kristina served as the Media Associate at Human Rights Watch, where she played a crucial role in monitoring Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Kristina also worked at the United Nations World Food Programme, where she served as the Special Assistant to the Director of the New York office.
Kristina is an Emerging Leader in Foreign Policy Fellow of the 2024 Carnegie-Maxwell Policy Planning Lab. Born and raised in Uzbekistan, Kristina holds an M.A. in International Relations from New York University, and a B.A. in International Relations and Russian Literature from Syracuse University.
