James J. Pinto

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, MVC GP II, MVC Capital Inc.; Vice Chair, Board Finance Committee

James Pinto has been the President of PFG Corp. since 1990.
He has been a member of the Board Directors of RFK Human Rights since 2015, and currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Finance Committee. Also, he has served on the Board of Visitors of Georgetown University Law Center from 2014 until 2023 and again from 2024 through present. He is a 2021 recipient of the Paul R. Dean Alumni Award from Georgetown University Law Center. This award is given annually to graduates who have exhibited leadership to their alma mater and to their legal profession.

His legal career began as an Associate at Kelley, Drye and Warren in New York. His government service includes working for the Department of Energy, International Trade and Emergency Preparedness, the Department of Justice, and Counsel to the White House Conference on Coal.

He is both a former officer of the International Law Section and director of the Young Lawyers Division of the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice law in New York State and Washington, District of Columbia. He is also admitted to the bar of the United States Supreme Court.

Over the course of his career, he has participated in numerous transactions, with a particular emphasis on investments involving corporate turnarounds and restructurings, as well as aerospace, aviation, automotive, food, and telecommunications. He was an early investor in both developing and emerging markets.

Mr. Pinto has served on the boards of a variety of publicly traded and private companies in a variety of sectors and he currently serves on the boards of private companies in the aerospace, automotive, and aviation industries.

While our name is changing, our mission and work remain the same. We will continue to fight injustice, advance human rights, and hold governments accountable around the world in 2026 and beyond.
