WABI 5: Gov. Mills receives Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award

Maine Governor Janet Mills has been named one of three 2025 Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award Laureates, honored for her moral courage and steadfast defense of civil rights. RFK Human Rights recognized her for successfully suing the federal government and the Trump administration to restore school nutrition funding for 172,000 Maine children.

Governor Mills called the award “a humbling honor,” citing her lifelong commitment to upholding the Constitution and defending the rule of law.

Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights is rebranding to honor the legacy of our founder and hero, Mrs. Ethel Skakel Kennedy. From now on, we will proudly be known as the Robert & Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center

While our name is changing, our mission and work remain the same. We will continue to fight injustice, advance human rights, and hold governments accountable around the world in 2026 and beyond.
