USA Today: Stephen Colbert joins former presidents in receiving major honor after CBS cancellation

Stephen Colbert will receive the 2025 Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award for using humor to challenge injustice and promote human rights. The recognition comes as The Late Show prepares to end its run in May 2026.

Colbert will be celebrated alongside fellow honorees Magic Johnson, Martin Cabrera Jr., Stefano Lucchini, and Darren Walker at a December 9 gala in New York City. The event will also mark the launch of the RFK 100 campaign, celebrating the late Senator’s enduring legacy.

Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights president Kerry Kennedy, said, “Humor can be a catalyst for change. Stephen Colbert stands as a shining example of how speaking truth to power, boldly, wisely, and with heart, can ignite change and send ripples of hope far beyond the stage.”
