Univision: ICE informed her she was pregnant and kept her in detention for months

“In the five years that we’ve been going to ICE detention facilities, especially in Louisiana, we’ve never seen this number of pregnant women in detention.”

Speaking with Univision, our U.S. senior staff attorney Sarah Decker condemns the abuse and neglect of pregnant women in ICE detention. In the past, she says, pregnant women would have been released so that they could receive adequate prenatal and postnatal care. 

The article outlines a recent letter authored by Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights and partners, documenting severe mistreatment of pregnant women detained in Louisiana and Georgia.
