The Guardian: Trump officials wrongly deport trans woman in violation of court order

A federal judge found that transgender woman Britania Uriostegui Rios would face significant risk of persecution or torture if she was deported to Mexico. But instead of following their own laws and procedures, the government decided to deport her anyway – cruelly sending her to an uncertain and dangerous future.

Now, Uriostegui Rios is suing to prevent being returned to the custody of the same officials who violated the judge’s order. Her case is the latest example of the administration wrongfully deporting individuals protected by the courts.
