Groups, including RFK Human Rights, have criticized the lack of transparency, particularly regarding amendments to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulation Act, which could enable internet shutdowns and surveillance. The proposed Cyber Protection Ordinance also contains vague terms—such as “obscene video” and “cyber terrorism”—that risk broad interpretation and potential misuse against civil society.
