NBC News: Pregnant women describe miscarrying and bleeding out while in ICE custody, advocates say

Last week, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights and partners sent a letter to various ICE officials, Senate committees, and DHS oversight bodies documenting severe mistreatment of pregnant women in ICE detention.

Over the past five months, our legal team and partner organizations have met with over a dozen women who were either pregnant or had recently miscarried while detained at ICE facilities in Louisiana and Georgia. These women reported horrific experiences of shackling, solitary confinement, delayed or inadequate prenatal care, lack of interpretation in medical encounters, and medical neglect.
