Ms. Magazine: ‘You Must Give It All You Got’: Ethel Kennedy’s Playbook for Enacting Meaningful Social Change

Writing in a heartfelt Ms. Magazine tribute, our president Kerry Kennedy honored the life and legacy of her mother, Ethel Kennedy, who passed away in October 2024.

The article highlights Ethel’s lifelong dedication to human rights, from challenging dictators to fighting child labor and torture. Her guiding principle, “You are only on this earth once. You must give it all you got,” continues to inspire generations to fight for justice with resilience and hope.

Carrying that legacy forward, Kerry writes, “It matters to me too, so at Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, the organization I lead, we’re fighting back.” She details our organization’s legal efforts to defend constitutional rights, including 21 lawsuits filed against government overreach—one of which she joined as a plaintiff to oppose the shuttering of the United States Institute of Peace.
