Louisiana Public Broadcasting: Anthony Enriquez Appears on ‘The State We’re In’

In this episode of Louisiana Public Broadcasting’s The State We’re In, immigration experts examine a worrisome new trend: The Trump administration’s collaboration with local governments to repurpose state prisons into ICE detention facilities.

Appearing on the broadcast, our VP of U.S. Advocacy and Litigation Anthony Enriquez said, “Angola has a dark history. It isn’t just a prison. It was once a plantation of enslaved people and later called the ‘bloodiest prison in America.’ Using it for immigration detention is no accident. This is designed to scare people and it’s designed to turn our civil immigration system into a brutal system of punishment.”
