Dr. Fauci and Colin Kaepernick to Receive RFK Ripple of Hope Award

Dr. Anthony Fauci and athlete and activist Colin Kaepernick may seem like very different men in very different fields—but they are both being honored with the same award. Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, and Kaepernick, a former NFL player who has led players’ demonstrations against racial injustice, will receive the RFK Ripple of Hope Award this year.

The award, presented by Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, honors leaders “who have demonstrated a commitment to social change and reflect Robert Kennedy’s passion for equality, justice, basic human rights, and his belief that each of us can make a difference.”

Past recipients include former President Barack Obama, former Vice President and current 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden, Congressman John Lewis, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Robert De Niro, and Hillary Clinton.

In addition to Fauci and Kaepernick, the 2020 Ripple of Hope laureates also include civil rights and labor activist Dolores Huerta; Dan Schulman, president and CEO of PayPal; and Dan Springer, CEO of DocuSign.
