CNN Venezuela: Maduro is imprisoned in New York. What does this mean for the government and power structure in Venezuela? Here’s what we know.

Venezuelan President Maduro has been captured and imprisoned by the United States and is now awaiting trial in New York. In his absence, the Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela has ordered the Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, to assume the powers of the presidency. CNN Venezuela reports that if confirmed in that role, Rodríguez would govern with even more powers than Maduro, as a decree of external commotion comes into force, granting her broad powers, such as mobilizing the Armed Forces throughout the territory.
