Axios: Michael Brown killing met with mixed changes nearly 10 years later

A decade since Michael Brown was killed by a Ferguson, MI police officer, our SVP of Programs and Legal Strategy Wade McMullen spoke to Axios about how he hopes the recent hearing before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights will lead to a renewed pursuit for accountability. “(It) can add more fuel and legitimacy to the organizing and advocacy that we’re doing to eventually reopen the case with a special prosecutor or a new prosecutor in Missouri,” McMullen said. McMullen faulted the Obama administration for not doing enough on the case.

New year, new us. Same mission.

Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights is rebranding to honor the legacy of our founder and hero, Mrs. Ethel Skakel Kennedy. From now on, we will proudly be known as the Robert & Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center

While our name is changing, our mission and work remain the same. We will continue to fight injustice, advance human rights, and hold governments accountable around the world in 2026 and beyond.
