Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights is scheduled to host its 52nd annual Ripple of Hope Award ceremony on Thursday, recognizing five humanitarians who’ve fought for the pursuit of racial and economic equality, social justice, and civil rights.

Kaepernick is one of the key figures in the sports social justice movement. He’s been effectively banned from the NFL after kneeling to protest systemic racism in law enforcement and the justice system.
