Over the past two years, the investment sector has made bold commitments to sustaining and revitalizing local communities through strategic investments that support racial, social and environmental justice.
Deploying capital through business models, products, and institutions that support economic growth in historically marginalized communities can lead to positive growth for not only communities, but the local and national economy. This must, however, include shifting capital away from our racist carceral systems which disproportionately impact Black, Brown, and Indigenous people and instead invest in community oriented solutions.
During our session at SXSW in Austin, Texas, we will explore how investors can contribute to positive societal change through alternative investment opportunities, beyond divesting, such as community-led public health, safety, and reparative infrastructure.
To join the session, purchase a SXSW badge here.
Join us for cocktails and light bites at Aba Austin on March 11 at 5 p.m. CST. Space is limited. You must RSVP to be granted access. Contact Fanta NGom at compass@rfkhumanrights.org to confirm your spot.

About Compass
We advocate among investors for actions that tackle the root causes of inequality that have formed the cornerstone of our current capitalist economy. This includes advocating for, and protecting the rights of, workers; amplifying the “S” in ESG and the need for social performance metrics and data; maximizing investor action on civic space; and diversifying people and capital by incentivizing and tracking capital and opportunities to underrepresented racial and ethnic minorities and women.
