Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights is seeking a Program Associate for its International Advocacy and Litigation program based in Washington D.C.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Providing critical support to International Advocacy and Litigation program, supervisors, and staff, including, but not limited to:
- Drafting, implementing and maintaining program systems and office protocols;
- Coordinating logistics and complex domestic and international travel arrangements for internal staff and external partners;
- Acting as liaison for the team with embassy and consulate representatives for Visa issuance, external event planners, fixers, and other partners;
- Helping to plan, execute, and provide support to workshops and trainings, including hotel and room reservations, catering, transportation, interpretation services, and other logistics, both locally and internationally;
- Expense reporting for staff and partners, including drafting check requests and requesting wire transfers;
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of budgets and work plans;
- Assisting with fundraising efforts, including preparing financial statements, grant writing and grant compliance;
- Assisting with internal and external communications, including blog posts, social media posts, website maintenance and putting together the Advocacy and Litigation newsletter;
- Coordinating bi-weekly Advocacy and Litigation team meetings;
- Coordinating the annual Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award, including, but not limited to:
- Facilitating nominations and selection of Laureates by processing nominations and conducting research and writing background reports on nominees;
- Planning all aspects of the annual award ceremony, including interfacing with vendors, securing venues, coordinating transportation, assisting in planning the agenda, managing invitation lists and RSVPs, and all-around event execution;
- Coordinating and communicating with Award Laureates as well as speakers and VIPs; and assuring all needs are met for event guests;
- Assisting with other long term-strategic planning efforts related to the award;
- Coordinating the internship and fellowship programs in the Washington DC office including, but not limited to:
- Facilitating outreach and managing recruitment efforts;
- Processing applications and conducting interviews;
- Attending internship and job fairs in the D.C. area;
- Onboarding all new interns and fellows;
- Facilitating internal team and organization-wide meetings as well as overall programmatic strategy.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate an ability to work proactively in a fast-paced, all-hands-on-deck, team environment; be willing and able to get up to speed quickly on new issues and master new skills; and possess keen problem solving abilities in order to fill gaps and identify solutions in the service of the broader team and organizational mission.
Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; strong writing and proofreading skills; the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities at once and shift focus as necessary; as well as strong computer skills, including fluency in Microsoft Office, and ability to master Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Groups), Salesforce, and MailChimp among other tools.
A demonstrated commitment to progressive social justice issues and/or interest in international human rights is preferred. A Bachelor's degree and prior experience providing program, administrative, and event planning support, including complex international travel arrangements, as well as knowledge of office procedures and equipment is also desirable.
Working proficiency in French, or Spanish is preferred but not required. Salary is highly competitive, including full benefits package, and commensurate with experience.
