Sen. Robert F. Kennedy Named Presidential Medal of Freedom Recipient

On Saturday, January 4, 2025, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Biden for his efforts to combat racial segregation, poverty, and inequality in the United States.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the Nation’s highest civilian honor, presented to individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the United States, world peace, or other significant societal, public or private endeavors.

Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights President Kerry Kennedy accepted the award on her father’s behalf.

Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights is rebranding to honor the legacy of our founder and hero, Mrs. Ethel Skakel Kennedy. From now on, we will proudly be known as the Robert & Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center

While our name is changing, our mission and work remain the same. We will continue to fight injustice, advance human rights, and hold governments accountable around the world in 2026 and beyond.
