Deutsche Welle: Brazilians denounce inhumane immigration detention in the US

Speaking with German news outlet Deutsche Welle, attorney Sarah Decker calls out inhumane conditions and systemic human rights violations at Louisiana’s Pine Prairie ICE jail.

“The only justification for [ICE] detention is to ensure that [detained individuals] appear in court. But what we see is that these conditions are punitive, and some even describe them as worse than an arrest,” she said. “People are horribly abused at this center and others in the state of Louisiana.”
