Happy birthday, Ethel!

Join us in wishing our founder, Ethel Kennedy, a very happy 95th birthday!

Sharing Robert Kennedy’s commitment to social justice and equality, Ethel Kennedy founded this organization in his name to work for the more just and peaceful world they both knew was possible. For more than half a century, she has played a vital role in our growth and development. Over her 95 years, she has been a champion for justice, standing with human rights defenders around the globe. She appealed directly to the President of Mexico for an investigation into the death of human rights attorney Digna Ochoa; she broke bread with Cesar Chavez, then marched with the Immokalee farm workers , decades later. She is still protesting with them in her 90s. Thirty years after visiting Apartheid-era South Africa, she traveled again to Africa, to advocate before a Kenyan dictator for justice for human rights activists. Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Florida, Brazil, and beyond, she walks the walk. Energized and inspired by the heroes she has supported and the many lives she has touched, she has been the catalyst, the inspiration and the greatest supporter for our work carrying forth my Robert Kennedy's legacy.

Ethel’s courage and dedication to human rights motivate our team every day, inspiring us to hold governments accountable, promote human rights education and youth organizing, advance dignity and equity in workplaces and investment communities, and uplift grassroots changemakers.
