About the Summit
Inspired by Ethel Kennedy’s unwavering dedication to advancing human rights and fostering a more inclusive, equitable, and peaceful world, this summit will help participants explore their personal “why”and how it connects to human rights and the sustainable development goals, fostering a spirit of inspiring change among the young leaders in attendance. The event is co-sponsored by the Manhattanville Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership and Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights.
Tailored for high school aged women, the summit will empower participants to envision and contribute to a more equitable, peaceful, and sustainable future. Throughout the day, attendees will engage in thoughtful reflection, gain valuable knowledge, and take actionable steps to inspire and drive meaningful change in their communities and beyond.
Participating students will:
- Develop an understanding of the connection between human rights and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and how these intersect with their personal “whys” and the pursuit of a more just world.
- Reflect on their connection to human rights and understand how their personal “why” connects to other students’, communities’ experiences, values, aspirations, and a greater world.
- Explore how they can make a meaningful impact in their communities and the world.
The day will also include remarks by inspiring keynote speakers, a networking lunch, and special gift bags for all participants. The summit will run from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. Districts attending are responsible for their own transportation. A more detailed agenda will be available in the coming weeks.
