James J. Pinto since November 2010 has been the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director MVC GP II, LLC, the General Partner of the MVC Private Equity Fund. Since 1990 Mr. Pinto has been the President of PFG Corp. which provides capital for private equity and debt investments. From 1987 to 1995, Mr. Pinto was a General Partner of Grace-Pinto LP, a $200 million fund, which completed a variety of transactions including open endings and proxy contests in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.
He has served on the Boards of a variety of publically traded companies with businesses in the cable, food, hotel, oil and gas, and toy industries, and private companies in the air cargo, medical devices, and information technology industries. Currently he serves on the Boards of private companies in the aerospace, automotive, and oil and gas industries.
He is admitted to the practice of law in New York State and is a Member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. His government service includes Assistant to the Administrator, Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, Department of Justice; Attorney/Advisor, Department of Energy, International Trade and Emergency Preparedness, and Counsel to the White House Conference on Coal. He is a former director of the Young Lawyers Division and a former officer of the International Law Section of the American Bar Association.
Mr. Pinto is a graduate of Georgetown University, from which he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Economics, and the Georgetown University Law Center, from which he received a Juris Doctor. Mr. Pinto serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, as well as a member of the Board of Visitors of the Georgetown University Law Center.
